Alexis Ball
Zoology
“This past summer, I studied abroad in Italy for 5 weeks. This trip was almost completely funded by a scholarship. This was the first scholarship I received in my college career, and it changed my life in more ways than one. After that experience, I told myself I would apply for more scholarships that can be applied towards my tuition for my last year here. I typically pay for everything myself, such as rent, utilities, groceries, etc. You are actively helping to change my life, and all the other students that also receive financial support."

Shi Ryoung Chang
Economics PhD Candidate
“Receiving funding allowed me to present a paper in the Midwest Econometric Group annual meeting held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. Developing a thesis is essential but presenting it to an audience and receiving feedback from various scholars is also the most important part of my development. Being able to attend presentations without any financial constraints had a significant impact on my academic journey. "
River Carr
Journalism and Public Management
“Receiving this scholarship provides me with the financial stability necessary to focus on my studies and achieve my academic goals. Law school is a significant milestone, and this scholarship helps lay the foundation for my future as an adult and a professional. I am dedicated to maintaining exceptional academic performance, participating in extracurricular activities and being a well-rounded student who contributes positively to society."

Favius Pena-Amaya
Music Education
"I’m a third-year music education major, and while I play trumpet in the marching band (B Row), I’m primarily a clarinetist! Scholarship support means a lot to me, and the journey of making TBDBITL has played a crucial part in my educational journey. Being a part of the band has not only made me a greater musician and educator but a better human being as well. I wouldn’t have been able to focus on my musical journey as much if not for a scholarship. From the very bottom of my heart, thank you for what you have given me and for helping me live my dream."

Kevin Miller
Chemistry PhD Candidate
"I was drawn to Ohio State University’s graduate program because of its extensive resources and excellent faculty. I have been extremely lucky to pursue my PhD in Christopher Hadad’s lab studying treatments for organophosphorus exposure. The funding I received greatly aided my experience and capabilities within the lab. I am extremely grateful and cannot express the number of additional opportunities the award provided."

Marina Sepulveda
Psychology
"The financial assistance I received has made the transition into the semester much easier, not only easing the financial burden of my education but also allowing me to focus more fully on my academic and professional goals. I am eager to use the skills and knowledge I am gaining to make a meaningful impact in the field of mental health."
Students like Marina receive the Rising Star Award, which is supported by the Arts and Sciences Alumni Society.
